    Wow, could you imagine face recognition like that available on a phone?  You could sign into facebook and names could be tagged to people matching the profile pictures as you walk by - real time!

    It compares the current macroblock with a series of previous macroblocks instead of just the previous one.  Unfortunately, it'll never succeed until it's shown on an iPhone.

    @ Mathew: Are you talking about the "stamplicking/kneeslapping" video or Zdenek's?  If the latter, where on pop sci did you get your information - I cannot find any information to refute Zdenek's claim, though that might come in 9hrs or so...

    I think whats funny is they set up an April Fools whilst apparently this Surrey chap has something similar working. Or is that also a hoax?

    I wonder if this algorithm would benefit at all from the use of a 3d scanner such as the Kinect.
