I just ran across this this morning on Engadget, Wired online. It immediately struck me as almost a "holy grail" of tablets to use for a ground control station. It has plenty of buttons, and 2 joysticks. We already have the excellent Andropilot app. Now we have built in controls... Maybe we should pool some money to send one of these to Kevin Hester.
The only problem is the specs are a little lightweight:
- 7" 1024x600 display, no mention of brightness
- Android 4.1 Jellybean
- Arm Coretex A9 dual-core 1.6 GHz
- 8GB Flash, 1GB Ram, with a microSD card slot
The really good news is it's only $170. It's definitely worth experimenting with.
I'd kick in $20 to send one to Kevin Hester if he's interested in developing it for AndroPilot use. Anybody else?

Olivier, the Wired article says it's an IPS display. I wonder who's right?
Sweet, so we're already up to $70 + whatever amount Alex is willing.
If nothing else, Kevin can review it and let us know if it's at all fit for the purpose.
This is a link for a complete review (sorry it's in french).

Battery life is around 2hrs... and the screen is a cheap TN technology... Brightness is only 222 cd/m2
Maybe usable as a test platform anyway ...
I would also be willing to donate some cash to Kevin to buy himself one and work on developing with it?
i think it is worth the try at this price. the configuration is ideal for radio control craft with GCS. Kevin should give it a try. i will contribute $50 to send one to Kevin. we are into hobby grade unmanned aircrafts. it looks quite good for that purpose.
Olivier, yes, I also read that the sticks aren't great. But frankly, sticks like that will never be great. This wouldn't be for sport flying, but just general moving around on a map, basically in "Loiter" or Fly-by-Wire mode. I would think it would be OK.
Now, the quality of the screen, that is an issue. We would need to look into that.
And what about the battery life? How long?
Just had a look on several reviews of this french gamer-tablet... Not very good...
It looks like the joysticks are far from precise, the viewing angle of the screen is very narrow, it's mainly made for indoor use only because of the poor screen quality, low capacity battery...
All the reviews are telling us not to buy it ! Only looks like half the Holy Grail.
Too bad, the concept is really what we are looking for... and the price is good (120€)
Wow this thing is sweet! That would be awesome to use for FPV and Auto :)
