That's awesome. Any way you would release the code for the software running on your laptop.
I have had this idea too. Although instead of using a cell phone, a GPRS USB modem.
Mainly as a backup telemetry connection.
Just think guys, we could have the planes on twitter!!

That's cool. I'm waiting for something more realistic like being able to send new waypoints to the ardupilot from the internet and have telemetry accessible through the internet!
That would allow virtually any cellphone to control and get telemetry from the plane :)
