I have no problem with closed designs or source being posted or discussed. I really don't see that as the problem with this post. Keeping confidential details secret is fine but providing no details is pointless and brings the credibility of the claims into question. It appears to be that this is little more than advertising, assuming the explanation that the poster in looking for investors is accurate. Any investor would look at this critically and no sane person would be interested in investing with no supporting evidence.
I'm not about to claim it is a fake or a fraud but I do find it to be entirely unconvincing.
While the moderators need to do their jobs, it is perfectly reasonable for community members to post their disbelief and concerns over the lack of substance, whether is is open or closed. Try getting published in a peer reviewed forum without something to backup your claims...
There are many things blogged here about proprietary systems. Limiting discussion to only open-source things would make this site less useful for everybody.
I can certainly understand that someone who is in the middle of development might want to keep the details secret at this time, while showing some interesting results.
Personally, I'm taking vis.asta's claims at his word for now. I also like working at night, I wish I had a convenient place to fly when it's dark!

Jaan, I won't believe it is real until I see the most basic specs like prop size, motor, and battery capacity... which shouldn't be an issue to mention if in fact this is a real quad/video. How you got those specs you can keep a secret.
Luc.. please post a 'standard component' listing that would result in a 80 min flight time with 2k payload.. PLEASE. I really doubt you post a component list (regardless of your sub $1000) that results in 80min flight time... I have never seen anything close to that in a quadcopter configuration... and I am sure most people on here have not either... I would take a 60 min run time and 2k payload quad copter component list as well.
Prove me wrong.. please. I think that is the point of this forum to move the hobby/passion forward for everyone.

With standard components and a budget less than 1000 $ , a flight time over 80 minutes is easily obtainable. Multirotors I recently build for aerial survey or video makers can hover for 30 minutes with 2000 grams of payload.
So I believe that 125 minutes flight time is possible. How that multirotor will then operate in a real application ? That's another matter...
@Georacer, Turnigy 9xr is using open source software, called er9x.
one of two things...fake or there is a wire supplying the power (kinda strange he chose to do this at night). Even if he had the worlds best lipo and a helicopter that actually weighed nothing the power supplied by a lipo could not even hold itself in the air that long.
Fernando, how is that Maxamps battery even a remotely a solution? It is nothing special at all. You could achieve the same by simply paralleling 2 4S 5500mAH batteries of any make. I did just that. 2 4S5000 20C Turnigy batteries, only $30 each, so only 20% of the cost of that Maxamp, and likely higher performing!
It flew for 25 minutes like that. It would take some real magic to get up over 60 minutes.
I can fake 'raw' video almost as easily as compressed video.. saying that doesn't prove much... heck you could super impose the quad-copter on-site feeding in both of the feeds into a single source and outputting that to the camera so the camera considers it the original raw source. There are plenty of ways to get a 'raw' style output... even with completely fake sources.
Plain and simple this is fake. There are so many red flags it is crazy... the biggest is if you pull off something like this for real you have a HUGE tendency to show off and talk about it.. not just post some edited video of it. You just can't make the math work even with crazy materials that only military really has access to... it is just a simple weight to thrust to power ratio.. you can't make that work for that duration of time.. or even close to it.
But we play into it and talk about it, which is most likely why he creates these fake videos and posts them without any sort of explanation what so ever... just for attention... like my three year old son. 'look at me, look at me'.
Thanks Carl , I know this is an open and marvellous communitie but news are welcome even if they are not as open as we expect to be ..but we know we can't have it all :-) and this really instigates us ..and that is already a good thing ..
