I think a nice goggle set for beginners, the Quanum DIY FPV goggle set with monitor. Not with dual glasses, but a single display that shows the live feed from your video/transmitter set (not included). The resolution is 480p (640x480 pixels) and you can use it with one of the 3 lenses it comes it, whichever fits you best. The goggles can be switched between 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios. The molded housing is made from EPP foam allowing you to carve and adjust the fit just right to your face and finishing it off with foam strips for a light tight seal.
Specifications:
Monitor screen: NON-Blue screen custom TFT LCD
Screen size: 4.3in (6:9 or 4:3 switchable)
Format: PAL/NTSC supported
Supply voltage: 7~13V
Resolution: 480p
Fresnel lens: 3X and 4X included
Size: 140x95x120mm

Please note that a battery to power the goggles is not included and you have to use your own video transmitter/receiver set.

What a big letdown. Not worth the buy because of the under-par monitor with crappy resolution, dpi, and contrast ratio. Heck I don't even feel that this is fit for FPV! A more detailed review will be at my blog, go goggle neato4u. If only HBK include at least a 640x480 monitor with acceptable contrast ratio.. then it may be worth buying it. I sold of mine after 10 minutes for a price lower than what hbk is selling (with plenty or warnings to the new buyer too) as I was too ashamed to even sell this back off!
@Steve I appreciate that, my prescription would mean custom ground lenses plus I don't feel its safe to not be able to not see the model if I have to whip the goggles up and fly line of sight quickly.
@Stuart you can change the lenses in the Fatshark to allow for wearing them without contact lenses. That is what I did whith my skyzone goggles (same lenses are supposed to fit both...)
Interesting cheap goggles, if they were on HK a year ago I might have bought them prior to my skyzone goggles, just to try them out.
Hobbyking posted a build video today. I thought this could be a nice addition to this blog post.
i guess the question is, how does this compare to fatshark, or skyzone goggles? are they even close to the same image quality?
I´m pretty sure this monitor is not 480p, is 480px (w=wide) x 270px
@Rob, this is ransom of success...Thx for your excellent kit ! The only issue I have is that it is impossible to get a 640x480 resolution screen (3.5 inch). If you can get me one, I'll buy it from you!
@Gary
Thanks Gary, guess I join the elite members of which there are many, who relentlessly get copied by HK.
We must skype soon !
