Is not ready yet, has tiny mistakes, but the tweaked boards is under the last hardware performance test's , as soon as i get an answer, I will start the mass production... ETA two weeks! (Maybe sooner).
The shield can be bottom placed (oil pan) or in the top (Shield). I would suggest the bottom side so you protect the IC's and have a lower profile!

You're coming in the middle of a product transition and I can understand it's a little confusing. Because we're an open source community, we share a lot of pre-release info, but if you haven't been following along it's hard to keep track. Once the products are formally released (within the month), we'll make everything clear, the way it is with basic ArduPilot. I suggest you wait till then.
In the meantime, I don't understand your 6DoF question. If you're referring to the Sparkfun 6DoF board, it doesn't have any connection to this project. The IMU shown above is its own 6 DoF board.
I have been reading the forums and still can not tell for sure what is on the ArdupilotMega boar and the new sensor board. I saw the new GPS module doe it fit on the mew IMU.
If one wants the 6DoF setup does it fit on this IMU or do you need anothe IMU for that.
Sorry for so many questions but so far this is very confusing.
In the setup shown on the photo, can the built-in ftdi of the shield be used for the Ardupilot Mega too?
Does the ArduPilot Mega mainboard need any changes or should we go ahead and order it now?
