It would be interesting to feed IMU data from APM to this motion cockpit. http://www.acesim.com/main.html

Someone please tell me if this is possible. Im thinking of building the cockpit. If its possible to link it to APM, I will have 10X motivation!.

just tie it into the accelerometer data.

How well can it simulate the crashes?

You would really just need some way of converting the artificial horizon data (maybe more?) to the movements, I would think. I wonder what the lag would be like?
