Replay XD1080

replayxd1080-1-hero.jpgMaybe this camera I found on the web would interest fellow aerial photographers.

It apparently doesn't weigh more than 85g, can take up to 1080p and it looks like a easy camera to fit on a plane compared to a bit more bulky GoPro.

It doesn't have a fisheye lens either, (is that a good thing or not?)

It looks like it's still on pre-order, so I can't fiend any proper reviews yet.

  • Tooooooooo much money...

  • I don't know if it is a Leica lense.
  • Leica lens ?
  • Must not be confused with the Replay XD camera, this is the Replay XD1080. Same company, not same camera.

Yes, Replay XD looks like it has terrible quality.

  • $300? I think I'll stick to something a little cheaper.

on the other hand, I can see a lot of other uses for it, and if it were cheaper I'd be very tempted.
  • Watched their video on their youtube channel. The quality really sucks.
  • Oups :)
  • The one with a 1 star review?
  • The aparently lack of fisheye lens it's the most important feature of this camera !

We don't need fisheye, we need wide FOV. But there are lenses and lenses...

There are lenses that offer wider FOV without the circular distorsion, and this is the case of this camera, the 135 degrees linear FOV it offers it's much more than could ever dream from gopro, being more natural and useful.

See the manufacturers movie to understand what I mean.

No need for box to get composite from HDMI, search Amazon for "HDMI to 3 RCA + VGA Cable", it's $11

The wireless is going to no doubt be short range. Otherwise, everyone they sold it to would have to get a HAM license somehow unless they came up with something that fits the FCC Part 15 verbage.
