3689543184?profile=originalThe Sky Drone FPV system is a fully digital long range and low latency video transfer system for DIY drones and remote controlled vehicles. Sky Drone FPV utilizes 3G & 4G/LTE networks and automatically adapts the video transmission frame by frame to bandwidth availability, ensuring minimal latency in data transmission. The data transfer between hardware and the groundstation app is AES-256 encrypted, so even the NSA can't hack into your video feeds. Telemetry data from a connected 3D Robotics APM board that is transmitted via MAVLink can be plotted on the live FPV video stream as a Head Up Display (HUD).

Complete with a groundstation application for iOS, Android and BlackBerry pilots receive real-time full HD FPV video straight on his or her smartphone or tablet. A unique feature of the Sky Drone FPV is the option to take 5 megapixel high quality still images during flight. The images are instantly transmitted to the app while the video keeps running.

Sky Drone FPV is currently running an Indiegogo Campaign to raise money to complete the last stages of the Sky Drone FPV development and take it into production. In exchange for your financial support, Sky Drone has some amazing offers. Early Birds who pledge just $ 349 USD receive are the first to receive the full Sky Drone FPV set. This offer is limited to just 99 sets. Head over the Sky Drone Indiegogo Campaign page to get more details as well as a demo video of the Sky Drone FPV.

  • Looks great. APM + Sky Drone FPV + safe vehicle + Li-sulfur batteries ( http://bit.ly/ZvbGvg ) and in 3-4 years time we will get hot pizza and other deliveries with a help of some awesome flying machines. It's a sin not to back it! :)

New sulfur-based battery is safer, cheaper, more powerful than lithium-ion
Scientists at the DoE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have struck the battery mother lode: They've created an all-solid lithium-sulfur battery…
  • cedivad: we do not use gstreamer but a proprietary video codec/transmission protocol and proprietary camera driver. This is needed to quickly adapt to available bandwidth and change video resolution on the spot. I is not possible using the standard video4linux framework.

  • This is what i did myself without any 100k investments:

I would like to see a demo of the 1080p stream and a list of settings (gstreamer?) needed to get it, everything else is IMHO worthless.

  • You show a PlayBook. That gets at least a dollar from me. (Sent from my PlayBook)
  • I prototyped something similar with a Logitech C920 camera (as it has a h.264 stream) and gstreamer over the beaglebone's ethernet port to another machine via udp. There was about a 1.5 to 2 second latency. I'm still trying to source a decent wifi radio. If people are looking for the diy approach, this link might be of use http://www.oz9aec.net/index.php/gstreamer/473-using-the-logitech-c9....

  • This is great but I am more interested in an 'off the self' long range telemetry via 3G/4G.

I want the ability to track and control a plane or copter from any range.

  • Looks great, but why not combine this with a radio transmitter module and receiver as well and have nearly unlimited range for video and rc?

Either way, I'll be backing this and keeping a close eye on it.
  • 3D Robotics

    Looks good! I've backed it.
