I went to the first Bay Area FPV fly-in, met some people with really nice setups. One person was using the iTelemetry app, from Immersion RC. You can see he didn't quite make it back to the field (ran out of power), which could have been a pretty serious thing since we were flying in a hayfield and the plane was totally hidden in the grass.
He was able to take his iphone out to the field, and follow on google maps directly to the pin that was documenting the plane's location. He also produced this nifty flight image, but I'm not sure if this was in the app or on his computer.
Does anyone know of a similar telemetry app in the APM world?

What was nice about the iphone app was that he could walk out into a 500 acre field of 3-foot tall grass, and the iphone led him directly to the plane. As he said, it was a long walk of shame but it would have been a lot longer search of shame without the app. So it's kind of an open-ended idea. If one of the GSC programs could repeat the telemetry information along a network connection, it might not be too difficult to write the app as an independent module.
For the flight render, it looks like something imported into google earth (???). I saw something similar at flightwise.com for commercial flights, showing the current plane position with a ball and vertical down to the ground.
Anyways, It was a pretty nifty looking app, so I thought I would note it here for future reference.
