The Falcon
The Falcon is designed for specific applications such as surveillance, security, asset inspection, fire and services.
The craft offers long flight endurance – 1 hour plus (60+ minutes) – and can be configured for custom applications and conditions, such as more turbulent and windy conditions in coastal areas.
Carrying a 360-degree pan and tilt head fitted with a Flir thermal imaging camera, laser sighting and targeting and onboard video with wireless downlink.
Coupled with one of Aeronavics new “Mission Control” base station units, this setup offers an unparalleled industrial aerial robotic solution from one of the worlds leading designers and manufacturers in the industry.
The craft is only available as a Factory Ready to Operate solution and comes with a range of tailored service and maintenance packages, training programs and is supplied with custom Pelican and SKB Transport hard cases.

Fixed wing has it's virtues, but also it's drawbacks. Deploy-ability is a massively different proposition.
The endurance of The Falcon would be comparable to the QU4D X from Steadidrone (for example) which offers 40-minutes flight time with a 2kg payload, or 30-minutes with a 4kg payload. A fixed wing plane with the capability to do that would be huge, and no good for close range applications like asset inspection and film.
Different horses for different courses.
I think a fixed wing UAV with the ability to keep a camera aimed at a fixed location would be more practical for many instances. They can stay in the sky much longer parked in circle mode. They can also engage in "pursuits" much more efficiently.
Sorry, just to correct myself...
U8 is 48% more efficient than KDE2814... KDE2814 is just 67% as efficient as U8 (or 33% less efficient than U8).
Gary - "These Big U8 based platforms are really only justified for applications that need to carry serious weight."
What about efficiency?
"It seems to me that primary hobby or commercial emphasis should be placed on the smallest most nimble and safest platform that will actually fulfill the requirements, these big ones are expensive and fly like a Mac truck."
You have me worried with your mac truck comment.
To say nothing of what happens if one lands on your head.
I only have plans to fly a craft this size well out of harms way, well away from the urban environment to natural scenery.
"BTW just looked at Steadidrone again and was happy to see that their bare frame for the Q4DX is now $2000.00 and their kit with motors, batteries, ESCs and props was $5600.00"
Thanks for pointing that out. I actually tried to contacted Duran back when I say this post. but I got no satisfaction. I was hoping to be able to purchase QU4D X frame only in order to convert to a QU8D X for my application. Perhaps now that the kit is available separately I might get a different result. I agree that $2k for the frame and $5.6k for the full kit is well priced.
"The new KDE's are possibly the best and most efficient motors available for anything smaller than a T-Motor U8 even including a 3 ABEC bearing stack."
Thanks for the tip, I was not aware of KDE motors.
The new KDE's are possibly the best and most efficient motors available for anything smaller than a T-Motor U8 even including a 3 ABEC bearing stack."
Looking at the claimed specs, the peak efficinecy is just 12.79grams/watt - which is 48% less than tha of the U8s. Am I missing something? Or perhaps am I interpreting these specs incorrectly?
Quadzo - "I get the picture, add some U8 tiger motors, some 26 inch props, give it a name."
Surely there is far more to it than that! I dread the fault finding process on a frame this size, as it could get expensive very quickly.
Tipu - "Why not try something lighter (155g only) and giving just a little lower performance with 18 to 20 inch props."
The U8s should give me a hover efficiency of up to 19grams/watt. The KDE offer just 11grams/watt.
@ Gary McCary
Your choice is good , but if we look at their 515kv motors, these are awesome.

Same in weight , and giving much more batter performance on 4S.
Thinking to make one too.
@Quadzimodo
Why not try something lighter (155g only) and giving just a little lower performance with 18 to 20 inch props.
You don't need to have a specialized frame to handle 29 inch props. A simple 700mm frame will do.

The price whatever it is (I'm just speculating I don't have any further info) would include the ground station package (Mission Control) and a FLIR camera (not cheap). The 60mins+ claim could be for specific surveillance or inspection or security of a small area so it might even be tethered??? (again just pure speculation).

Sorry I'm not sure of pricing or specs thats all the info there is for now. It will most likely be a DJI flight controller and T Motors. It will be expensive, probably $30k +
Not sure what Astec technologies will think about the name as well as the Falcon-UAV website :-(

LOL
It's like something out of the eighties.
I get the picture, add some U8 tiger motors, some 26 inch props, give it a name.
Mention we use our own "ground breaking Ground station" which is mission planner....
Oh and add a nice big price tag..
NO !!
