Tour of the new 3D Robotics factory

3689431399?profile=originalI was in San Diego on Thursday to speak at the AUVSI's Unmanned Systems Interoperability Conference and to do a Bloomberg TV segment on 3D Robotics/DIY Drones. This was a good opportunity to tour the new factory, which is now in its own 10,000 square foot building with 15 full-time employees. (3D Robotics is the company that powers the DIY Drones store). This is what it takes to do high-end electronics at the volume and scale we're now operating at. It's a long way from the garage we started in ;-)

    Im from Indonesia, me and my team we also visiting in the same day... Chris and crew really friendly and kindly tour us around and do some ardu copter demo flight.

    Before leaving we want to buy a complete soldered APM, but unfortunately they ran out of stock. Just before our car leaving the building they call us back, and give a free set of APM (thanks a lot guys). We also get cool DIY drones Tshirt souvenir. 

    Keep your eyes on DIYdrones there a lot of product to come :)

    Btw : Chris, isnt that picture is classified stuff :D

  • Great factory setup..

    Have recently been hooking up a FPV camera on the copter.

    Now the optical flow sensor draws me away to tinker with.
