UAV swarm

I thought I would post some information about some research I have done.
This video shows a simulation of UAVs swarming with an advanced control algorithms.

Seven UAVs are shown, which find a source of fumes or aerosols by measuring the concentration at their actual position. Due to communication and a distributed Extended Kalman Filter they estimate the fumes position. These UAVs fly at a certain concentration line, which in the video is marked blue.
This is just a demonstartion of one kind of task for the swarm.

  • Hi Thomas,

even though this video is pretty old, I haven’t published it yet. I will publish it in the next few months. But I gave in 2011 a talk at a workshop in Germany.

The talk is in German, but should give you an impression. If you have a any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

  • where can find your paper and some reference about your algorithm statement?

  • How do they avoid the obstacles? Do they keep recomputing trajectories as they fly?

  • A Greg Fletcher  I had  8 track in my car and in the house . you still see them the odd time at yard sales  . Interesting pattern . have a great day!

  • That's really cool. I have seen patterns like those in my navigation experiments. Infinity of figure 8 tracks. False turn arounds. If you know what an 8 track tape is, your pretty old :)
