I added a discussion that't a clone of the blog. I'm going to edit it up to include more links to possible ways we could achieve a Voice Operated APM 2.5

It shouldn't be that hard to implement voice commands on the Android GCS that I'm developing (DroidPlanner), I added this as a issue on the github project page.
My thoughts are to implement basic commands trough voice recognition, commands like:
But this is on low priority right now.
Control of the on board video System, Flight Modes, Arm/Disarm or any functions that are normally control with a switch or knob on the transmitter. Personally, I have personal issues with taking my fingers off the joysticks. :)
Can you think of some other actions where voice control could help without impairing safety? Also the voice controlled heli I bought and have been using can be controlled simultaneously using voice and IR Controller for safety.
Richie I'm creating a discussion and possibly a group here soon based on this project to further the progress of the current voice recognition capabilities of MAV and the APM 2.5. I will update the blog with the appropriate links to the group and discussion.
Ground stations functionality or any action on the drone that does not impair safety, is fair game in my opinion. :)
What about using voice commands to operate with a ground station? Voice recognized way-point selection and much more?
Law Enforcement? Hmmm, that is a very good question. I would think a command set would be good as in "take a picture", but the actual flight control? No.
@Richie, Do you think voice operated drones would be useful to law enforcement, people with disabilities, etc?
Dragon Dictation is actually another system I've been messaging around with on my ipod touch hoping to learn more about it. Have you tried to configure and play around with dictation?
@Joshua, I really do not know about that or how the xbox handle background noise. I do know my dictation system is very subjective to background noise.
