  • thanks for posting this Paul.

The main idea is using the downward force, obtained by driving the propellers in reverse,  to to move the legs. Also, to get the  legs off ground SMA wires has been used.

  • This is one of toys I have designed lately as a part of my graduate project.

I have submitted that to Boca Bearing innovation contest, you liked it, vote for it here:

  • please ignore "conventional" still not entirely sure how it got there.

  • it appears the motors have to run in both directions providing power for the walking mechanism, using lift to move a foot forward and the opposite to move it backwards so no gearing in the conventional directly from the motors more mechanics from what I can observe.

  • just a quick inquiry: must the copter spin it's blades erratically whilst nudging along? not making. joke, just wondering if somehow there is gearing or something that is being driven during its toggling the motors while crawling?
  • It doesn't count unless there's a phone somewhere.

  • Would be supported by a bearing company.  With the motors loose like that, it's probably very hard on the bearings.  Saw some of his other vehicles, he's doing some very interesting work.

  • Interesting concept.  very innovative, not sure how practical / effective it would be.
