What airframes are you flying with APM?

Here's what I'm flying with ArduPilotMega:

--EasyStar (default settings work fine)

--SuperStar EP (default settings work fine):

--Skyfun (default settings work fine)

--Skywalker (picture at top)
--And of course ArduCopter!

What airframes have you flown APM with? Any tips or changes needed?

  • :O Andres you are gonna have some real fun with that beast. Awesome work. Velocity being why you will be so careful, I mean if that hits its gonna be hard. Please post everything.

David: I think that battery would be too big for the Skyfun. It's really meant for 2200-3000 batteries, and 20 minute flight times. If you want something bigger that's fast, I'd look at a RiteWing Zephyr flying wing. Or for bigger and slower, a Skywalker.
  • Chris/anyone with a SkyFun: Do you think it would be feasible to get 45min (8000 mah battery maybe?) of flight time out of this airframe and carry an 8 oz payload? I would think the power system would have to be upgraded, any suggestions?

tycinis: that's using the new beta code, which I'll update today.

  • Could not resist, while learning and developing I am "flying" a bread board with APM.
  • I'm pretty amused with your result and the stock Ardumega code.

I added the Skyfun to my list. Flies great with APM's default settings.

Check out the tight patterns in RTL mode today (circles are autonomous; the other stuff was me flying in manual):

  • Now for ArduPilot....

WARP-4 Brushless (RCBL415-5 inrunner) no longer available
    APC 6X4 Sport Prop

    ArduPilot/V2 shield/AS sensor/FMA XY & Z ir sensors.

This aircraft flys better than the post above: however, they both are great fliers. I have many (20+) one hour plus flights on the E* above and 1 on this aircraft.

Plan to test ArduPilotMega in a SkyWalker that at present is in country, creared customs and should be here to me 1 or 2 December. After test and some tuning I want to install it in this 1981 Aquila Standard glider modified for electric several years ago. The aircraft in my avitar
