Building Possibly My Last Multicopter
I left the hobby in 2022 after the crash of my Tarot Ironman due to a propeller blade separation resulting in complete destruction of the aircraft. Since then I have been flying an old DJI MAvic Pro that I bought used from a photographer who wanted to upgrade. Anyway, recently l've thought about wanting to build one more multicopter. I enjoyed the challenges of building one plus the satisfaction of flying something I built. So I decided to once again embark on a build project. My needs…

Aerhead,
i just did 5 test flights outdoors today, APM2, and in all case i forgot to disarm ESCs with Rx stick in all the excitement, and just disconnected the lipos form quad, and then switched off Tx, but in each case i was able to arm ESCs with anyproblem for the next fight... ????...so that is a mistery why there should be problem if one does not disarm and sw off everything. But here is one thing that happens with me, whenever i connect lipos, the blue and red light dont come on and flash together, on the blue light goes solid, so since red not flashing i cannot arm, so now i disconnect lipos and connect again and eveything works super, and this happens every time, i just have to connect power, disconnect power, connect power again and every thing is fine.... wonder if someone has a explanation so this.... but i just love the test flight, it felt awesome....Salute DIY team.

I've been fighting the same problem for days. I think I found the reason for the arming problem.
If you unplug the USB without clicking on the DISCONNECT button the APM 2 board will not arm after you connect the battery.
To bring the board back so you can arm, just plugin the USB and open the Terminal screen. What for a minute and you'll see both LEDs are flashing.
Now the important part. CLICK on the DISCONNECT button and the board should work when you connect power. If it still won't arm try just waiting 10 minutes to plug it in.
Good luck

I need some help pretty bad.
I have calibrated all ESC's and Motors. each one works. Then when I go to test the motors in the CLI they do not spin up. Also when I use the Tranmitter and arm the motors the little green light becomes solid but nothing happens.
if i buy the xbee pro xsc from digikey will it work with diydrones adapter boards ? thanks for any help
Add sonar - Yes.
Question in general. If i were to add sonar to the quadcopter would this help with softer landing and better altitude hold?
Upon further review, I used a good ohm meter that I have here at work and checked the leads. Looks like the blue wire has the open in it. Since it is new I really can't open it up and see if I can fix it. 3drobotics is going to send out a motor when they get this one back.
Chris
You just did. It's hard to tell if a motor is bad by using an ohm meter because their resistance is so low. If you know that the ESC you tested it with is good and all three wire have a good connection then the motor is not good if it doesn't work.

@Arehead
I have been messing around and come to find out. As soon as I plug the battery in, that ESC that is on the motor will not make the correct sounds. I have plugged the same ESC in a different motor and come to find out it works great. Then tried another ESC with the motor I think is bad and it started doing to the same thing. I think the motor is bad. Is there a way to check?
