  • Using my APM 2.5 on a TBS Discovery w/ frsky 2.4 control, Immersion RC 600mw 5.8 and Fatshark Dominators, its taken a few months to get the bugs ironed out and flying (many crashes and about 3 vtx's), but it now flies nicely (though I'm a crappy pilot) thanks to this user group and many other fellow hobbyist. I am getting just over a klm of range with both video and control. Missions work great and loiter is finally stable.. see my quick video in Hawaii (apologies for the jello I have my gopro hardmounted in waterproof case for obvious reasons :)  http://youtu.be/tdV1w0lNKU0 any questions feel free to ask, and again thanks to everyone who helped me :)

  • Ok, I emailed 3d robotics, they tell me approximately 1 mile, line of site, with FlySky transmitter.

  • Yeah, I understand that, would like to have some idea of range. 1 mile, 2, any idea, even on just line of site.

  • @tomgates They are correct your mileage will vary depending on terrain.

    Anybody know what approximate range of the FlySky transmitter and receiver is with 3d robotics quad?

    3d Robotics tells me the telemetry on board is good approximately a mile, more or less, given the terrain etc.

  • Hey everyone.  Just got in a second quad power distribution board in today and want to turn my quad into quad-8 or Octoquad.

    I purchsed a second pdb thinking I can use it to power the additional motors.  As I look at the quad and octoquad motors setup I see that the quad motors 1,2 are diagnal for the quad but are clockwise on the Octoquad top motors and 5 trhu 8 for the bottom motors clockwise.

    Long story short does anybody have advice on using 2 quad PDB's to make an Octoquad?

  • Finished my GoPro anti-vibration mount last night , waiting for weather to behave so I can test it out. I left the big plastic thumb screw in place until I decide what angle I like , my fat shark Predator V2 set will be here friday!!!!

  • What advantage is there to installing sonar to the APM Copter. Is it a worthwhile option?

    You can check out Pelican Cases.  I'm sure they have one that will fit the bill for you.

Building Possibly My Last Multicopter

I left the hobby in 2022 after the crash of my Tarot Ironman due to a propeller blade separation resulting in complete destruction of the aircraft. Since then I have been flying an old DJI MAvic Pro that I bought used from a photographer who wanted to upgrade. Anyway, recently l've thought about wanting to build one more multicopter. Drone flying to non visible point

Hi there,I encountered a problem, while flying in auto mode, with approching to point that was not set by trajectory and is not visible after downloading mission from flight controller by Mission Planner. Does anybody encountered similar problem. The situation is that in the middle flight I stopped the UAV and uploaded new mission and after changing to auto mode it starts to fly in some direction. TAKEOFF WITHOUT USING GPS

Hi,Im working on a autonomous drones and im using JETSON NANO and flight controller PIXHAWK .Im able to control my drone by giving rc commands on the MAVLINK terminal itself by connecting it with PIXHAWK but now i want a python code from which i can do some operations like:takeoff,left ,right,forward,backward…and i am not using GPS…Can anyone please help me…

HELP quadcopter: one motor twitching and stuttering
