  • Where and how did you mount the APM2 and xbees?? Which GPS? That is awesome to hear it was successful. Is there anyway you could upload pictures?

  • My ZII with APM2.0 was successfully tested last weekend, including stabilized flight, Return to Launch, and a 10 waypoint autonomous flight. I could not have been more pleased. It performed flawlessly. It has the GoPro box up front, and the main equipment bay is used to hold a camera for vertical photography. The batteries are in cavities to the sides of the main bay.

  • Has anyone got a detailed description/photos of where they have mounted all their gear with the APM2 ?  It seems if the gopro cam box is installed it takes away allot of space, so it would be interesting to see pictures of this also to show how much room there is left for all the other equipment...such as video tx / 3DR telem kit / etc...

  • Chris, it is a daunting build. But it is worth every second of it. After the spars are fully in and it takes shape...it really gives that grandeur feeling you get when you looked a plane as a kid... and to Rana, it is most definately a resource for any flying wing, but there will be some specifics to the Ritewing brand because there is such a large and active community on building and customizing the Z2. Which is why this is specifically to the Zeph.

I am slated to recieve the new APM2.5 board this week with the upgraded GPS, and my Z2 is definately itching for it. Pictures and Files to come!

  • Name of the post should be rather "Flying Wing - Arduplane", this discussion will carry all shared resources of may it be X5 / X8 or Zephyr Flying Wing plane. People will share their code tweaking and parameter files.

I've got a Zephyr kit, but have never summoned the energy to put it together. It looks like a huge job, and back when I got it, the only instructions were a series of videos.

The Zephyr II looks so much better. I wish it had been available when I was shopping for a wing.

  • Hey guys I created this group to have a place to post for Zeph/APM2 users... posting config files, sharing techniques, and etc.

Levelling APM & Calibrating APM Accelerometers with a ZII

How do you go about doing the level & gyro calibrating your APM when its installed in a Ritewing ZII ?I spent several hours with a spirit level and a bunch of shims to orient my ZII  to perform the LEVEL CALIBRATION, and I was really just guessing how much pitch up the nose needed for level flight  based on some photos taken of my ZII while I was flying it manually. I just can't imagine being able to do the gyro calibration with this style of plane.I'm sure that mission planner would time-out…

Low-cost UAV for mapping

Hi guys! I am trying to build a low-cost UAV for mapping, initially I intend to use a flying wing of 1.5m wingspan with  ardupilot APM 2.5, GPS uBlox LEA-6,  2200KV Brushless Motor (2200KV Turnigy 6 D 2826) and Camera Go Pro Hero II, I wonder what the most viable way for me to get a longer flight around 30min, using batteries in parallel? Also I plan to use a long-range radio (Dragon Link) with an antenna tracker (helical or yagi) someone could tell which antenna tracker has the best cost…
