  • I know a guy you could try but he's in Melbourne. Very good and up to date on IAV development.
  • Hi Guys, I'm after drone engineer. Can anybody recommend someone in Sydney who will be able to work part time with agreed salary on the project I have?  Thank you for your help. Lukas

  • Not a bad thought Adam, thanks.

  • Actually Hobbyking has a mini version of the APM which would make it easier to fit into smaller planes http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=...

  • I didn't say that it would work, just that I'm going to try it!

  • I'd love to know how the swappable build goes, I've been seriously considering buying a kit or two, the Spitfire appeals to me quite a bit actually.

Never considered rigging up an APM to one before though.

  • Thanks for the info gents.  I'm in the process of building my first 'FliteTest' swappable  RC aircraft, so I may end up creating a 'Dusty' drone, or a blunt nose Versa more likely as the first APM equipped aircraft.  I've had an RTF Steadidrone Quad with APM 2.5 before, but I'm enjoying starting from scratch with a fixed wing.

  • It depends on the type of transmitters you are using for your telemetry, if they are frequency hopping such as the 3DR telemetry radios then 915mhz can legally be used up to 1W as long as a minimum of 20 hopping frequencies are used (which I'm pretty sure it does by default) although it only goes up to 100mW you can at least use it full power. however 433mhz can only legally be used without a license up to 25mW because there is no there is no provision in the regulations for frequency hopping, the 25mW restriction applies no matter how you are transmitting.

  • Thanks Matt, 433 it is!
  • Hey All,

I have a quick noob question for Australia; 433Mhz or 915MHz for telemetry?

    Thanks!

Splash drone modification

Hi I'm new here from Melbourne, I bought a splash drone fishing drone. It was ok never flew quite as nice as my old phantom 3 ever did. Anyway it run out of battery 350m out to sea and took a load of water and everything is toasted. It does turn on but won't arm. Im thinking of gutting it but motors and the drop mechanism and putting a custom drone internals Now I literally have no idea where to begin with this. All I need is 500m range and GPS return to home and a trigger for drop mech . I…

Freelancing

Hi guys,I've been into drones for a few years as a hobby, and recently got a Mavic Pro.  I've posted a few pics & videos on my facebook & instagram, and I've been really surprised by the number of friends who've asked me to do work for their businesses.I work full time so droning is still a hobby, but I learn more everyday, and I reckon there have to be hundreds of others out there like me who'd like to make a bit of money on the side.So I've set up dronetaskr.com.au - it works like…
