2 ESC on one Motor

Hi

can i connect two ESC 10A with  20A motor, I already have ESC 20A but I want to use two 10A ESC because they are small and I can put them in the carbon tube for best pakaging ?????????

sorry for this stupide question :)

  • No, they would get out of sync, and burn or stop due to over current.
You could, let one of them control FETs of them both, if you disconnected one controller. That would also add some gate capacitance, depending on your wiring, but probably be compensated for by reduced internal resistance.
To much work to be worth it.
  • The simple answer is NO.

The microprocessor in the ESC has to READ the motor to adjust it firing of the coils.

Many have tried 2 motors from 1 ESC with varying levels of success, but always problems with the startup.

I have never heard of the actual effect it would have with 2 ESC's, so if you try it  would be interested to hear what happens, but i suspect the grey smoke will just get out.

  • I don't think this will work with brushless motors since the ESC fires in a certain sequence and they'd have to be synchronized. If using a brushed motor and older ESC this would probably work but nobody really uses those anymore for remote control stuff.
