Adding extra functions to MinimOSD

I have started to add functions to MinimOsd code.

At first i did it for myself only. Added many functions i thought i need. Then opened this thread.

after a while, Pedro and later Miguel came, and things started to happen fast. :D

They have optimised the code and added even more things to it.

They have worked hard on CT, and it became a great tool!

Thank you Bough! :)

By now MinimOSD-Extra got a pretty advanced OSD.

Here it is in action:

- Changeable unit measurement (US, metric)

- Airspeed

- Home alt

- Battery Percent

- Battery used mah

- Current Draw

- Time From Startup (cleared at takeoff to show exact flight time)

- OSD Menu

- Variometer

- Wind horizontal speed and direction, and also the average wind speed of the last few minutes.

- OSD on/off

- Switchable secound screen

- WP distance

- WP heading

- Crosstrack error

- Warning messages for Lost GPS fix, Stall, Overspeed, battery volt, battery Percent, RSSI

- Efficiency, glide distance & thermic notifier. 3 in one panel

- OSD Brightness

- HAM Call Sign

- After flight summary

- Trip distance

- Temperature

- Smoothened horizon

- Real heading

- Vertical speed

This functions can be turned on and off, and placed on different screens now, by the Config. tool.

Also RSSI, switching mode and channel and unit measurement, Stall speed warning, Overspeed warning, Battery warning volt, Battery percent warning, RSSI warning,  can be set in new Config Tool.

We built in a new way of setting video standards. Now OSD does not guessing anymore :). You can set it fixed from CT. It is in "Video Mode" menu.

Here is how it looks: (This video is a bit outdated, sorry. I will make a new one soon.)

The MinimOSD-Extra project is here: Link

This project is the developing version of the official Arducam OSD located here: Link

The latest stable version is: 2.2

The latest version can be downloaded from here: MinimOSD-Extra R800

Username: MinimOSD_Extra

Password: Top_Secret

CT is included. (The FW for Plane, Copter, Character upload and the character file is in the "FW & Char" directory inside CT directory)

We are sharing it to see videos you make using it! :)

  • HI

What would be the latest stable to use for plane ? r719 ?

  • Hi David,

    1. That is a known issue. Please try the r785 with the CT Tool r787 that I've just posted.

    2. That's weird. I'm not sure what's causing that :(

  • Hi,

There is a new CT Tool for MinimOSD Extra Pre Release r787

This version should fix the reported issue when uploading charset with the copter r785 fw installed on minimosd

CT Tool for MinimOSD Extra Pre Release
    • Hi Miguel, I've been struggling with Mininosd-extra. Maybe I'm missing it, but there doesn't seem to be any single site that tracks changes and issues and explains things well. I installed the latest firmware (727) on the project site and it has solved most of my problems however all 3 screens now slowly toggle between the screen I set up and a small group of parameters in the center of the screen. Am I missing a setting?

      • Disable rotation switching and set the warning auto panel switch to the panel you want to use.

I set mine to panel 1, and enabled rotation switching on channel 8 so when the switch is off it stays on the current panel, and when on it will cycle between them until I turn it back off.

  • Hi guys, just updated MinimOSD-extra copter to r726, I like the new armed icon

Here's a quick video of it in action

    • Hi Titus,

      Thank you for the vídeo!

I also like that new armed icon. It's Gábor's design ;)

If you could try the latest fw (r785).

There is an issue with this version uploading new charsets but I'll be realeasing a new ct tool today which should fix this.

  • Hi Miguel,

I just wanted to let you know, using the font (2.4) and the latest CT Tool r730

with MinimOSD-Extra Plane Pre-release r719, the double %% issue seems to have gone away.

Got to tell you guys, I really like the flight summary screen. Keep up all the great work!!!

    • Hi Steven,

I believe that the double %% issue isn't away. It just appears when reported rssi on mavlink gets more than 3 chars.

Nonetheless we're going to make that reading more "bullet proof" :)

      • Miguel,

You were right, it is not fixed. Today the double %% came back. I guess I was just lucky.
As you noted, switching screens gets rid of it.
