Adding extra functions to MinimOSD

I have started to add functions to MinimOsd code.

At first i did it for myself only. Added many functions i thought i need. Then opened this thread.

after a while, Pedro and later Miguel came, and things started to happen fast. :D

They have optimised the code and added even more things to it.

They have worked hard on CT, and it became a great tool!

Thank you Bough! :)

By now MinimOSD-Extra got a pretty advanced OSD.

Here it is in action:

Added:

- Changeable unit measurement (US, metric)

- Airspeed

- Home alt

- Battery Percent

- Battery used mah

- Current Draw

- Time From Startup (cleared at takeoff to show exact flight time)

- OSD Menu

- Variometer

- Wind horizontal speed and direction, and also the average wind speed of the last few minutes.

- OSD on/off

- Switchable secound screen

- WP distance

- WP heading

- Crosstrack error

- Warning messages for Lost GPS fix, Stall, Overspeed, battery volt, battery Percent, RSSI

- Efficiency, glide distance & thermic notifier. 3 in one panel

- OSD Brightness

- HAM Call Sign

- After flight summary

- Trip distance

- Temperature

- Smoothened horizon

- Real heading

- RSSI

- Vertical speed

This functions can be turned on and off, and placed on different screens now, by the Config. tool.

Also RSSI, switching mode and channel and unit measurement, Stall speed warning, Overspeed warning, Battery warning volt, Battery percent warning, RSSI warning,  can be set in new Config Tool.

We built in a new way of setting video standards. Now OSD does not guessing anymore :). You can set it fixed from CT. It is in "Video Mode" menu.

Here is how it looks: (This video is a bit outdated, sorry. I will make a new one soon.)

The MinimOSD-Extra project is here: Link

This project is the developing version of the official Arducam OSD located here: Link

The latest stable version is: 2.2

The latest version can be downloaded from here: MinimOSD-Extra R800

Username: MinimOSD_Extra

Password: Top_Secret

CT is included. (The FW for Plane, Copter, Character upload and the character file is in the "FW & Char" directory inside CT directory)

We are sharing it to see videos you make using it! :)

Enjoy

Thanks again to both you and Gabor for your replies!

I don't no what the exact numbers are for switching, but I  would imagine it would be something like 1000-1350, 1351-1700, 1701-2000 for Pos 1, Pos 2, and Pos 3 respectively.

If you're having trouble with the midpoint I would suggest trying to adjust one or both the endpoints for the switch channel until you get reliable switching.

                Best Regards,

                Nathaniel ~KD2DEY

                • Doh! Sorry Nathaniel.. I am not having troubles, I am saying we observed during setup that we had to adjust the middle point in order to be able to get panel switching to work properly - in case that helped you at all.

Sorry about being a bit ambiguous there..

                  Josh

                  • Hello Nathaniel,

It is also good to see you again! Many old friends here!

About screen switching. Yes warnings can prevent you from being able to switch. It is up to your settings. To test it simply turn off warnings. (that is the simplest way.)

Make sure that you have also calibrated your switching chanel in MP. That is important! (you could use CH6, CH7 and CH8 to switch screens)

The values i have changed in the past to be able to use the same channe for an additional functions, so in reality we have 4 positions at least. like i have used it for mission reset. So i think you have got it quite right. ;)

                    so it looks like this:

                    screen 1: 0 to 1233

                    screen 2: 1233 to 1467

screen off: 1467 to 1701 (or abowe. the abowe range can be used for additional things)

I hope i was able to help.

                    Gábor

ps.: I am about to update wiki on this. Thx for pointing it out

  • Hi!

Is the latest firmware intended only for Copter (APM) FW 3.2 or can I use it with 3.0/3.1 on my APM?

Btw, What is Character_Updater_FW.hex? I know .mcm is the character set but what is this file and how do I use it?

    Thanks.

    • Hello,

If you have no issues with the WP arrow, than you can still use the old one.

Character_Updater_FW.hex i have made to upload character sets. I have removed the this code from the normal FW to save space.

So if you want to update character set, you will need this FW. When character set is uploaded upload the normal R800 or previous FW you had.
