About Me:

R/C Aviator 20+ Years Fixed wing, 2 Years Rotary.....Looking to expand my horizons. Started my interest in robotics with the Basic Stamp 2 Years ago...then moved to Arduino and learing C C++ 1 Year ago, now I am jumping feet first into UAV tech combining my interests. It's all about the challenge and learning!

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

My primary reason for getting involved with UAV's at DIY Drones is for the technical challenge. However I plan on using my UAV for aerial photography and videography with perhaps eventually a FPV platform.

"Hey All,
Hope everyone had a happy holiday adn a Happy New Year! I dropped off the radar for a bit while I helped my son and his family move across the country from San Diego to New London, CT. We drove across country starting December 26th and ran…"

"Hi BC6,
I own an Emax 250 with the 1806 motors running on an CC3D board. Are you running CC3D or have you found a mini APM/Pixhawk you like?

"Isn't that in oxymoron, "sensible logic"? Well at least as far as a US bureaucracy is concerned. :)

"So basically Pilots in category #1 foot the bill to pay for educating everyone in categories #2 and #3. Nice....not. I don't think registration is a bad idea, I just don't think it's right to require me to register each and every aircraft…"

"@Tony
Not sure where you were going with that...but my point was simply that the vehicles aren't the problem. By themselves they don't pose a threat to anyone. It's the operator that puts the aircraft in harms way (fly aways aside).

Nathaniel Caner commented on Gary Mortimer's blog post U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx Announces Unmanned Aircraft Registration Requirement
"As long as I don't need to register each individual aircraft accompanied by a fee, I'm ok with it. If I had to pay a registration fee for each aircraft I own, I'd go broke! I've been in this hobby for over 25 years, and as anybody who has been in…"

"Kurt,
I can't take credit for the idea, someone here led me to the same information, paying it forward as they say! If you can't feel any additional end play, then it probably isn't a major contributor. Still worth looking at, but not likely to help…"

Nathaniel Caner replied to Randy's discussion Copter-3.3 beta testing
"Kurt,
Quite often you can reduce the Z axis vibration level by reducing the amount of bell play in your motor housing. As your props load and unload in flight the changing load on your motor causes the housing to jump up and down within the "play"…"

++1 That would be a fantastic idea! A simple utility that could loaded and run on the APM/Pixhawk, connected to Mission Planner etc. allowing the user an interface where they could enable and run individual motors at a specific user…"
