I'm interested in producing DEM or pointcloud maps from aerial photos from a UAV.Just wondering if anyone knows of a resource we I can obtain sample photos from aerial platforms so I can look at the software side of things.I'm hoping to implement the software so as to require minimal manual intervention - basically just drop a heap of images (and possibly IMU data) - create point clouds, and then output DEM.ThanksShaw

I know a software called mex from alicona. This software can be used with 2 stereo images to calculate a calibrated dense 3d depth image in a minute.the software need the images, the tilt angle and the size of somethink in the image. If three images are presend than the needed inforamrion does not need do be accurate.
Costs are roughly also 5000€, test version is available. The software was written for electron microscopy but can be used for areal 3d also. Some people use it for this.
So simple fly over something and take 3 images, feed it in the sw and wait a minute....

Hi,
please find a very good software to perform the 3D processing: http://phototour.cs.washington.edu/bundler/
I'll try it using my HK BIXLER with ardupilot-mega

We have been looking at EnsoMosaic but have had poor results. We think there are some things that can help, but we're not there yet.
I'm not sure if this helps because it has hefty price tag but look up "EnsoMosaic."
We have this solution here is an example of the results https://www.youtube.com/user/HawkeyeUAV?feature=mhee#p/a/u/2/UeYf52F... We generate full dense point clouds from wide angles lenses which give good true 3D data.
Conatct me if you want a hand.
