APM 2.6 Battery current failsafe

Hello,

I need to set failsafe on battery current, I have set it to 300mah but when i see the battery current before arming the battery current is showing 0.40 Amps and when i arm the copter and increase throttle then the current showing is 14 - 15 Amps. If its showing incorrect then how it will detect 300mah is low for failsafe trigger ?

Why i am not setting voltage failsafe ?

When during flight i increase the throttle then the voltage suddenly drops, for example if my battery is 50% (11.30V)  remaining then when increasing speed it decreases upto (10.5V) and goes up when i hover still...and i have set the voltage failsafe to 10.4V and i fear it will failsafe even on 50% battery.. I may be incorrect ?

Please advise in this regard

Thanks

  • Current is A , capacity is Ah

I guess you want a capacity failsafe.

your 0.4A idle current may be fine, but you should calibrate the sensor at nominal load (hover) to better precision.

Once done, you enter ~80% of the battery capacity, and enable the FS,

Capacity based warning is less accurate.  Different battery packs will age differently, and maybe one day, you forget something, land, disarn, and then fly again... the  math will be reset, and you 'll be out of power earlier than expected.

The best you can to is to have a HoTT radio, OSD, or other method that display charge/voltage live, then you can take load into account, or even throttle up to see how much "juice" you still have.

    • Thanks Andre K. for the reply.

I have 3dr radio installed thats how i can see live stats.

I guess voltage failsafe is much better than Ah
