Bricked 3DR Remzibi?

So, I ordered the 3DR Remzibi OSD.  It arrived, and I managed to get the firmware updated, and the layout exactly how I wanted it.

I want it to display the telemetry from the APM (2.x software, APM1.4 HW), so I uploaded the firmware (refrenced here http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/hk-bixler-arduplane-2-24-remzibi-osd)

that was:

  • Arduplane 2.24, with some remzibi mods
  • Remzibi firmware 1.72 with some other mods

Now, when I apply power, The blue status led does not light.  Power is being applied, however, as validated by a voltometer and by the board itself getting warm.  The video passes though when its powered.  The only thing that comes up onscreen is the initializing message.  It also will no longer connect to the Remzibi OSD Configuration Tool.

Also, the boot-up-in-programming mode doesn't appear to work anymore.  I think I might have somehow gotten it perma-stuck in initializing.

Is it totally bricked, or is there some 'factory reset' method out there somewhere?

  • Well, it sure appears to be nonfunctional - the only characters on the display are the initializing messages, and the status LED doesn't light.

I ended up deciding to just get the minimOSD, since it interfaces with arduplane directly.

  • Hi John,

It's normal for the Remzibi OSD 3DR to get pretty hot since the MAX7456 chip operates at a high temperature. The firmware is now available in the product description too. We will be updating the manual to include a note about the firmware version and the LED.

  • Same problem here, it dit the same thing :(

Before that did you noticed any issues? like screen offset or glitches and mixed up characters on screen. Also i showed numbers changing in the whole screen. Did you try connecting a GPS to it?

    BTW, manual was released: http://stuff.storediydrones.com/Remzibi%20Tutorial.pdf

Now i just need to get back to DIYdrones 1.75 firmware to try again
