During an attempted Compass Dance, I was trying to get a good distance from my laptop during a Compass Calibration while I was reinstalling my APM 2.5 in its frame after changing out the method of powering. I had just allowed an update Mission Planner on the Win7 which had taken some time and I suppose I had decided to just power the FC with the USB cable alone to which I had added an extension to get a greater distance away from EM interference.

I had removed the connections from GPS, Telemetry Radio, and the Power module. I left the J1 in place. I did not however remove the connection made by my D8RII Plus because it was going to be next in line for Rx Calibration. So I replugged the 2.5.2 with the cable and there was a brown out. I then tried to re-connect with out the radio and there was only two flashes of the Red LED and a continuous Green LED nothing more. I could not make connection with Mission Planner again via any of the obvious methods. So I went to the Terminal tab and did the RESET process, and the following message was displayed.

3 No Data Flash Inserted 3 Compass init error

I tried several times to get a satisfactory reboot and had no change.

This board has been somewhat of an enigma in how Mission Planner displays certain headers once connected.

Would someone please suggest a course of action? I have tried to "Google" a similar situation without success so far.

Regards,

Chris

  • Why not plug everything back in ?

    • If it won't come alive with the USB or PM plugged in, I don't see how placing a load on it will help. But thanks for the suggestion mP1. It doesn't have any effect. If what I am seeing is correct, there is nothing to boot from. So no wonder there is no activity from either the red or blue status indicators.

Thank you for taking the time

      • DOn't worry guys and girls. THere has been so much written about this, I am surprised I ddidn't trip on the stacks of inquiries on the way in. Got my answer. It is the TPS79133DBVR by Texas Instruments. THe 3.3VDC 100mA Voltage regulator that is giving me the problem. Checked it, and mine has failed! And for a hatrick I ordered three of them for free under the heading of Samples. And they are being packaged and FedExed to me as I write this.

So too be clear Stand Down! The matter is well at hand! :-)

        Thanks
