"ANother thing that happens is that unless you have some aluminum or kapton tape over the area you will probably blow the tiny caps and resistors off the PCB. And believe me, once they are gone, you are in a fix. Get a nice close up photo of this…"

"  @ Paul N Braida M.E, yes you can swap out from another APM, and I have done the surgery. But you must have a hotair rework tool. And it is rather fiddely to be certain. The compass may be purchased new from Ebay in multiples of 5 for less than one…"

Chris Leech replied to Daniel 's discussion Tarot 2D gimbal Issue in ArduCopter User Group
"Best thread out there is the one at RCGroups Try to source some info there.
Problem with swapping out to a standard sized BGC, like the BaseCam/Alexmos or other, is the form factor of the Tarot 2D's mounting platform, but it might be done, and then…"

Chris Leech commented on David Mobach's blog post Telemetry radio case for XBee & 3DR style radios
"Took two and a half months for Newark Element14 to ship for what ever reason, but yeah, great little boxes! I have the 915Mhz radio set from RCTimer and I have a near fit on the ground radio, much like the above photos. Just taking the heat shrink…"

Chris Leech commented on CrashingDutchman's blog post Pixhawk on DealExtreme
"@ RCTech,... So you are saying that buying RTFHawk will inevitably mean fiddling? That the only way of going Pixhawk is by way of 3DR? How much fiddling around are you talking about?
Also in reference to swapping the components over to the APM 2.5,…"

"How timely :-) I was going to purchase the RTFHawk and didn't realize the broad assumptions I would be making . I have had trouble with a RCTimer APM 2.5.2.; it took the replacement of some parts and countermeasures to repair deficiencies.I was the…"

Chris Leech replied to Chris Leech's discussion Brown out, then failure of an Arduflyer 2.5.2 during Compass Calibration.
"DOn't worry guys and girls. THere has been so much written about this, I am surprised I ddidn't trip on the stacks of inquiries on the way in. Got my answer. It is the TPS79133DBVR by Texas Instruments. THe 3.3VDC 100mA Voltage regulator that is…"

Chris Leech replied to Chris Leech's discussion Brown out, then failure of an Arduflyer 2.5.2 during Compass Calibration.
"If it won't come alive with the USB or PM plugged in, I don't see how placing a load on it will help. But thanks for the suggestion mP1. It doesn't have any effect. If what I am seeing is correct, there is nothing to boot from. So no wonder there is…"

"Where did you order the ST810 from and did you get a half decent price?  I am not aware of the supplier that ships out of Port Angeles. Driven through though... I am hovering over the 680mm Tarot (Pun intended) but it won't be coming from HK USA.…"

"Not to worry Ken,
it will arrive in spite of the lack of being able to track the item. I just went through the same scenario with them and I simply stopped trying to track the item. In the end the package arrived in relatively short order. A friend…"
