I love to access this site from my iPad, but it seems that the chat bar appears across the middle of every page in landscape mode and blocks whatever is underneath it.  It disappears when switching to portrait mode, but it's a pain to keep doing so.  Is there a way to disable the chat bar altogether and only enable it when I want to use it?

    Yes, Safari on the iPad has issues with lots of sites, this one included. One of two things is going to happen: either Apple will fix Safari or Ning will change the platform DIY Drones runs on to work better with Safari. I can't do anything about either of them, other than hope it happens sooner than later ;-)
