Does ArduCopter work well with negative above-start-location altitudes?

Hi,

I want to use the FollowMe code in the repo, or wrap my own, for having an ArduCopter follow me going down a mountain road. That means, it will receive guided mode commands with negative relative altitudes.

Can I expect that to work okay?

This is of interest to me as well. I live in a very hilly area and would love to do some missions "over the bluff". Maybe photograph some of the peregrine falcons nesting below. Or at least give them something to talk about.

Anyone with experience flying at altitudes below takeoff?

I would be interested to know this too? Can I ski down the hill and have the copter follow me down?
