I'm new to this forum and am in the process of altering a current build that I have. I would like to power it using RC electric jet fan motors and was wondering if anyone has any idea of the lift ratios for those motors. It is a quadcopter with MC3510 KV630 motors with 11inch carbon props. The total weight is 9 lbs. A little overkill on the setup, but it works for my needs.

What would be the equivalent in electric jet fan motors to get the same lifting power?
Any thoughts would be great.

Have you worked with them before? I'm just curious how much more power they use to sustain a hover.

Ducted fan motors are very inefficient at producing thrust in the hover. Large props give much better efficiency for a quad. I would steer clear of fans.

To clarify for those that may think I want to build a jet-powered quad. I just want to build a ducted fan powered quad. I'd also like to know any pros and cons to using ducted fans.
