Flight Planning, Gone Horribly Wrong

So I have been flying my HexaCopter for a little while now and wanted to try out some of the flight planning stuff in Mission Planner. I have the full wireless telemetry and in Mission Planner built a few way points and clicked 'Write WPs' button. This all seemed like it went well. I took my HexaCopter off the ground manually and had my friend drop the drop down to 'MISSION_START' under the action tab and clicked 'Do Action'. When he clicked this button the Drone just took off from me very very fast. Within 9 seconds it slammed into a tree. I have no idea how this happened. The first way point wasn't near this tree.

Here is the GoPro video of the event:

Attached are the log files (Are there any other ones you need to see?)

Any ideas what would cause this? It makes me not want to try it again!!

  • What's up with all the jerky motion of the right front motor arm, as compared to the left one, visible in the video? It looks like it's maybe loose, or maybe that motor is having some sort of problem?

  • Hi,

I don't know what happened but you could/should know that if this happens again, you can flick the mode switch on your remote to any other position and then back to stabilize. The copter uses the last mode commanded (that was from the ground station) so if you had stabilize still engaged on the RC you need to move the switch to somewhere else and then back.

  • Hi there

According to your tlog file there is no GPS attached to your copter.

Did you check the GPS status before setting it on its mission?
