FrSky Transmitter affecting UBLOX GPS

I recently purchased a UBLOX LEA6 GPS for my quad.

I have had some good flights and some not so good.

This evening I did the power hack on my APM 1 to power the receiver from the USB.

I have the APM 1 connected via USB and the copter is indoors so not many visible satellites.

What I have noticed since then is that when I switch the transmitter on I am losing GPS lock.

Also the altitude is jumping all over the place when the transmitter is on probably due to no GPS 3D fix.

Anybody else with a UBLOX GPS and FrSky transmitter having these problems?

  • Wait, you are using the GPS inside your house?

I have been using the FrSky system extensively with the FrSky telemetry Rx located nearby.  Outdoors, there is no real problem.  I don't fly in my house, so I don't really care how long it takes to lock.  When outdoors, it locks very quick.

I've even used an FrSky Rx directly on top of the MediaTek GPS.  Takes about 10 minutes to lock outdoors, vs. 5 minutes without it.  This was actually a bit of an issue, but it was *directly* on top of the GPS.

  • Hi,

Yes, I am having a similar problem. Upon switching from a Spektrum receiver to the FrSky receiver, the lock takes a few minutes and the number of sats acquired has gone from 10+ to 6 or 7 sats. I've tried rearranging the hardware but it doesn't help. If I power down the FrSky receiver, the sat count goes back up.
