Other than for a potential weight saving, does anyone have an argument that supports using Futaba's S-BUS (or any or CAN type system) as opposed to using conventional servo wiring-up?

One downside consistantly noted by folk is that if you loose one connection, you loose control over all servo's on that extension from that point onwards - which has the potential to be fatal, but, given the care that folk go to when it comes to wiring up, just how much more likely are you to run into such a scenario? Afterall, the potential to loose a connection and run into a fatal situation is no more/less likely with conventional wiring, is it?

  • Yes on all your thoughts but to me the disadvantage is that I'd have to buy servos that support SBUS which I don't mind but the servos they have on the market now (Futaba) do not have enough torque for my application

One other imediate advantage I can think of is better performance over conventional servo wire. SBUS won't be as affected by long servo wirings.
