Getting an APM to communicate with a Mac

Hi All,

I see this issue has been posted many times....However I post in the hope that someone actually found the answer....Please forgive a rank amateur ...First go.

Assembled my quad copter yesterday...basics achieved eventually...

Using an Ardupilot FC and Flysky Fi6 transmitter....I made sure the Rx and Tx bound .

Then did the calibration on the ESC's....successful after about 4 or 5 attempts.

this is where it all stopped .

Further attempts to arm the APM have failed. Read many forums, Dowloaded the APM 2.0 planner(with additional driver) for mac but i can't get any communication?Cant seem to adjust comm port despite all that Ive read here.

Went and installed APM planner on a mac book pro running parallels and windows 7.....Same thing just can't connect to a comm port.

on initial power up...the APM goes through all its checks ...I end up with a steady blue light and flashing red light.

Im getting no excitation to the motors at all.

Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Thanks very much Chris.

I'll try another cable tomorrow.....However I feel the later maybe closer to the point.

I did manage to get the Com port to recognise additional options beside the bluetooth connection...do either option starting with cu.xxxxxxmacbook-Bi or ttyxxxxxxmacbook-Bi mean anything? those 2 plus my iPhone wireless connection where the only additional serial port options?

    Cheers!

    Darren.

Possibly bad USB cable (try another one), or weird/faulty APM clone?
