Gopro & Iris

Well after many months I made my decision on what multirotor copter I want along with the camera.  I made my purchase and now waiting for the IRIS.  I ordered it with the Gimbal and also purchased the Gopro Hero 3+ Silver camera.  I am crossing my fingers I made the right decision and will let everyone know once I have had time to try things out.

I do have a few questions relating to the camera.   Does anyone have some suggestions on what would be the best settings when in the air for Video.  And if I set it for timed photos what would be the best setting for this.

My other question would be if there is room with the Gimbal, could I use the gopro as the camera for FPV?  I have seen a number of products that will patch to the Gopro, but I am not sure if that would be the best way to go or not.

  • The gimbal has no role in enabling a camera even a Gopro to support FPV. As long as theres no obstruction, and you can connect the ground and video from a Gopro to your video transmitter then it will work. HobbyKing sell the cable you need for a few $. The thing to be careful is not to connect the positive or power to the gopro as it already has its own power from its internal battery. Most video transmitters provide 12v while the Gopro is 3.7 or 5 i cant quite recall but its much less than the vtx.
