Has anyone on this Forum added an autopilot to a Gyrocopter?
A Gyrocopter would seem to make a good stable camera/mapping platform, capable of longer flights than a multicopter, and able to fly slower than an airplane.
You need to be a member of diydrones to add comments!
More specifically has anyone on DIY Drones interfaced a gyrocopter to an ArduPlane platform.

I gave it a lot of thought and I think a developer would need to take this on. They fly like copters (lots of rudder action) but they will blade stall really fast. I think you would need an rpm sensor and air speed sensor at the very least. After building one and watching them fly a lot I think getting vibration out would be tough. They shake a lot. Not that it can't be done done but its a lot of work. I think px4 vtol and others will win the race for hybrids. But until they can use variable pitch props they are not too efficient either. People want a VTOL with at least 1hr flight times.
