Interfacing question~

First of all, I am back! as I said that I went for my examination.

Now it's time to continue with my project.
A question had come to my mind recently.
Because I am going to do a ground station which includes the basic 6 air gauges, what is the hardware that is giving the values to the air gauges?
I am guessing that it's the airspeed sensors, and also the XYZ sensors.
But how about the heading indicator etc?
And does it work if my receiver does not connect to ardupilot board?
Meaning that does leaving my ardupilot board's Receiver input and Servo output still be able to get the values accurately?

  • Heading is provided by the GPS or an optional magnetometer. GPS requires vehical movement for heading. Magnetometer is more for things that hover. The receiver inputs and servo outputs have nothing to do with the sensors. I think you could use the Ardupilot for just sensor info if you want to, but you can always plug it all in and go auto as everything is already in your plane.

All this is already in the ArduPilot code. Please spend some time with the GCS protocol and you'll understand it better.
