Issues with motors arming and throttle sticking

I have been having an issue lately with some of my ESC not arming when powering on my hexacopter.

What happens is when I power on the hex, sometimes up to 4 motors won't initiate when arming but not consistently all 4 (sometimes only 2 don't start).  I usually just restart or do a quick throttle calibration and after multiple attempts at this I get the motors working.  The last one to work is always the back left.  After the motors are working it flies flawlessly never having issues with the motors stopping.

Yesterday I flew it in my front yard without any issues getting it going.  I unplugged it and went to another area to fly it.  5 Minutes later I go to plug it in and the motors are giving me the standard issue.  I spent 15 minutes trying to get it going and go through various calibrations of the throttle.  I finally think i have it going and i give it just enough throttle to get off the ground and it seemed like one motor when full throttle and flipped into the ground.  At this point i cut the throttle down but it kept going for a few seconds upside down.  I brought it back home fixed a couple broken props then tied it down so i could test it again.  I start it up again and after giving it half throttle I put the throttle back down and the motors continue spinning at half throttle for a few seconds before reacting.  It's now having this issue consistently.

I am going to re load the firmware to see if that fixes the issue.  Does anyone have an idea of what could be happening here?

  • Interesting, I thought I was the only one having these sort of issues with the motors arming, but not as severe as you .

If anyone else has had this issue please wade in with at least a "me too"

I am running an APM1 on a JDrones Hexa, and have been doing a lot of test flying. This has only happened a few times, and disconnecting the battery, waiting a minute or so and reconnecting, usually fixes the problem.

Mine is usually 4 motors not initialising with only 2 spinning up. Sorry can't remember which 2, but I will be mindful of it next time it happens.

I did drop the throttle trim last time, to see if the motors armed, which they didn't, but on reconnect all was well. May be the action was related to it working when reconnected.

    Worth a try.
