Morning all,
Would like to know who has tested the firmware update through APM Planner and if there were any problems doing the firmware update and how the flight tests went. Anything special to look out for?
Regards,
Solo.

I´ve updated to 2.0.40 yesterday and tested most of modes. I have to say that all worked perfectly: stabilize (as usual), ALT_HOLD under sonar, LOITER, RTL, SIMPLE. I´ve not tested yet AUTO mode. Used defaults in all cases.
I´ve only found some oscillations on ALT_HOLD mode under BARO heigths. I think is a question of PID´s tuning.
Anyone know when 2.0.42 will be available through APM?
I tested v2.0.40 on my quadcopter a few days ago, just before Katia blew into the UK and made further outdoor testing impossible. Stabilize was fine. Alt_Hold was better than previous versions but I continue to be plagued by a noisy control signal in that mode, as on previous versions, which causes the motors to pulse randomly. I tried removing the felt over the pressure sensor and that actually improved it! Can I filter that signal? I was not able to try any other modes.
I've just noticed that v2.0.41 addresses an Alt_Hold issue so will try that asap.
Regards
Richard
Morning,
Tried the modes change in apm. Made no difference. Remembered that I got shiped the USB serial interface cable so attached it to the breakout board. With this cable I cannot see the modems at all, however on the USB breakout board I can see both modems. I have assumed that my quadcopter side breakout board is faulty and ordered a replacement. If it is something else, it doesnt really matter, we are all going to need spare parts sooner or later.

I just test ATL HOLD. it's perfect....
Same problem with xbees. Removed the one on my quad and tried it on my Y6 that still runs 2.0.39 and it linked right up. Thing is I tested 2.0.40 yesterday on my quad and xbee linked.
Morning All,
I uploaded new firmware last night, ran setup afterwards without any hassle. Cannot get a connection through Xbee Pro. Redid the firmware on both modems to make sure it wasn't a brick issue. Weird thing is that I can see serial data coming in through GCS, and terminal in APM, but it never gets passed the section that says getting sysinfo (7) when trying to connect with APM. Its like the serial bus is providing nonsense to the modems and the telemetry is being received, but because the info is garbage, there is no useful information being sent. The USB outbreak board works great on the PC side, picked up both modems no problem, not sure how to test the copter side though.

I uploaded the firmware to my APM1.4 and it went fine. However, I have picked up a problem - I don't know if its related but I'm getting garbage in my gyro feedbacks in APM planner for all three axes, vertical speed, ground speed and compass. Other feedback is normal - altitude, GPS and radio input. While sampling the radio feedback APM Planner also froze.
are you sure the quad was in stabalize mode?
Morning,
I did the update through the planner a couple of hours ago. All that went smoothly. But when I wanted to start, the green led kept blinking when I armed the motors. Nothing else happened. As a last resort I pushed the reset button. I should not have done that as immediately the props started turning. Luckily not fast enough to lift off and it stayed flat too. A bit of a problem to avoid the whirling props but finally I could disconnect the battery. Don't know what I did wrong. Had no problems with 39b in stabilize.
