HI
Does anyone know of an 'off the shelf' plug in to allow for me to use FPV with my GoPro Hero 3 black. Currently the wifi function for GoPro to iphone or ipad works to 100m (ish), i would like to get it to 1km, possible or am I dreaming?
Best
Marc.

Hey Marc, yes this is quite doable. Take a gander at this set up... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKMQhWZtNRg
The initial problem with using the wifi function of the GoPro is that it broadcasts on 2.4GHz, likely the same frequency that your copter is working on. This can cause conflicts resulting in flyaways.
The solution is to make the GoPro broadcast it's feed on a different frequency, in the case of the video I linked to, 5.8GHz. In brief the setup is as follows:
1. 5.8GHz Transmitter connected to the AV out port on your GoPro.
2. 5.8GHz Receiver with you on the ground, connected to a screen (be that a laptop or a stand alone LCD screen like in the video, or even if a TV if you prefer)
Providing you have a sufficiently powerful transmitter you can receive the video feed from 1km away as you requested... However... be sure that your own copter is capable of being that far away from you or the last video feed you will see is the earth rapidly moving towards the screen!
So you cant get FPV to 1km, or just not using the gopro?
