Hi All,
I'm trying to fly my quad with loiter mode with its default setting. It can't stay at the position and tends to increase its speed and went out of control. Do I need to tune my PID in order to achieve a stable loiter flight mode? Please advise me.
Thanks.

Good point on the compass mot. I haven't done that yet either on mine and I need to.
Well the direct answer to your question is sort of. It is not that simple.
First of all, if you're drifting in loiter, that is probably a lot more to do with vibrations or GPS errors than tuning. If you have high GPS HDOP, or lacking a 3D GPS fix, it's going to have a hard time holding a position. And without vibration dampening, it will never be able to hold position. Secondly, yes you absolutely need to tune your aircraft. The defaults will not provide stable, useful, safe flight in any mode. You need to follow the tuning guides before you try to fly anything anywhere. And you need address the vibrations before you can even bother tuning it. Tuning: http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/tuning/
