Here autotune succesfull done.
On the second attempt / test, disaster hit. Heavily modified frame from Hobby King, Turnigy Talon Quadcopter (V2.0). Bery light construction , with 350KV RCtimer motors, 17"X5.5 props, 16,000 mAH battery. Total weight, 2.6 Kgrs. Pixhawk controller with telemetry and iosd with Immersion 600mw TX and futaba T8J RC.

At 2:27 you check the horizon. Pushing the quad to the right, and nothing happening.
My Long range, heavy lifter, had a mid air Aluminum Motor base failure.
The motor started spinning, and twisted the cables, from the G forces the battery got disconnected and fell down from 150 meters height, but all power lost in mid air.The17" Pros where intact as a proof that the motors where not spinning during fall. The video has been speed up from 1:19 to 2:25.
At 2:27 i was having problems already.. see the horizon of the quad. i was pushing it to the right, and was not practically going there. Something moved ??? and the stresses on the motor mount where tremendous.
Any one any ideas as to why this happened ?

  • I have the logs. Will this help to determine the situation ?
    • Ok. I am abroad for now will post the log on the 5th. Nov. That will be a great help as it will clarify if the mount broke mid air or during the impact.
    • sure. if you have enought logging on , we should clearly see if a motor broke loose midair..

  • looks like a fatigue fracture on that (weak) motor mount, caused by vibrations.

no logs provided, but looking at the wire nest onboard, power could have been interrupted by g-forces pulling on the ... wired parts during fall..
