Pixhawk with 3DR radio and minimOSD

I'm starting to convert my APM 2.6 quad to running a Pixhawk. 

I have a 3DR radio, MinimOSD and Frsky telemetry converter on the single Telemetry port of the APM 2.6.

I guess I could do similar with the Pixhawk, or is the intention of the Pixhawk to split the radio and OSD to two serial ports ?

    PixHawk uses the new plug for 3DR telemetry. The old cables won't work. Below is the cable now sold by 3DR for OSD, telemetry and PixHawk hookup.

      Yes, I was aware of the extra pin on the Pixhawk telemetry (serial) ports.

      My question was more about using the second serial port instead of running gear in parallel on the primary, and what if any advantage to doing that ?
