Martin replied to Marv's discussion I2C Lidar Lite v3 Pixhawk
"Late but worth adding. Had issues working out correct settings for mine too using I2C, but after getting some advice I set the RNGFND_TYPE parameter to 15 works straight away, address can be set to anything, it seems to be determined by the type…"

Martin replied to Mike Mac's discussion RFD900 and 3DR V2 compatible issue.
"Yes me too with the same modules.
Still working on the problem here, but it would be good if the OP could elaborate on what he meant by airspeed too low.
I'm not sure if he meant the V2 had an airspeed set below 64k or if he changed ALL his radios…"

Martin replied to Marco C's discussion CAN NOT INVOKE AUTOTUNE FLIGHT MODE in ArduCopter User Group
"Cliff has the answer IMHO. I've been told be the guy who wrote Autotune to be in Alt Hold mode then throw the separate Autotune switch.
I understand that eventually Autotune may use Loiter mode or something similar, which will be nice."

Martin replied to Marco C's discussion CAN NOT INVOKE AUTOTUNE FLIGHT MODE in ArduCopter User Group
"Yep, been tripped up by that too. Also the other sticks need to be centered with no trims set on the radio (AFAIK)."

Martin replied to Edgar Scott's discussion Suggestion: Motor Test/Setup Screen in ArduCopter User Group
"Actually, motor test could be more useful if it showed IMU vibration levels for each motor as you test them. May help users pinpoint an out of balance prop/motor combination before they experience IMU clipping in flight."

Martin commented on cedivad's blog post Introducing Fpv.Red - A HD FPV video system that doesn't fear latency or range
" Hi Davide. Yep we can run to 25mW with FM or whatever, it's only above that value that the modulation type is mandated and there is a max spectral power density of 25mW/3khz BW to meet. I've just read a new note that there may be changes to that…"

Martin commented on cedivad's blog post Introducing Fpv.Red - A HD FPV video system that doesn't fear latency or range
"Hi yes. I want to send 1080p to the ground to a large 1080p LCD, because that gives much more detail for searching for objects on it. The default source right now for me is a GoPro Hero4 with HDMI output. Currently SD via PAL over 5.8Ghz FM is…"

Martin commented on cedivad's blog post Introducing Fpv.Red - A HD FPV video system that doesn't fear latency or range
"I'm in the market for something like this for professional use. Some questions.
Is the sensitivity of the 5.8Ghz version the same as the one demonstrated ?
Is the RF modulation digital, or frequency hopping of 75 or more channels ?
(fitting into part…"

Martin replied to Matthew Kerle's discussion new rules from CASA, good news? in Australia
"I think it's been well thought out by CASA. I think it will foster technical innovation and create new business opportunities for people that can imagine uses for the sub 2kg class aircraft. I already know of one example that is hamstrung by the…"

Martin replied to Martin's discussion Open race track logger based on Pixhawk ?
"OK, I assume it's a new idea then :)
Perhaps Rover firmware would be a good place to start creating an 'ArduDriver' firmware for race track logging...
Bye."

Martin posted a discussion
Just a general question and a thought here. The Pixhawk with GPS seems to have all the things a basic (or not so basic) car or bike racing track logger might need. Using the accelerometers and GPS position it could record cornering G's and speeds,…

Martin replied to Randy's discussion Copter-3.3 beta testing
"Might be worth flushing your firmware and reloading from scratch if not done already. I think there is a method to ensure a 'clean slate'."

Martin replied to Randy's discussion Copter-3.3 beta testing
"Paul I did flight tonight and flew long enough to get a battery voltage failsafe trigger, so it's working for me. This was at about 50% of set capacity (using older packs that never get near capacity now)..."

Martin replied to Randy's discussion Copter-3.3 beta testing
"I've seen an instance of the 3DR 900Mhz mavlink radio making a Pixhawk throw up lots of IMU errors, but the antenna was both horizontal same as the Pixhawk orientation, and fitted barely 20mm from the side of the case. That was nearly as bad for RF…"

Martin replied to Randy's discussion Copter-3.3 beta testing
"I'm with you on that Paul. With three slightly different capacity packs I can fly with on any given day, including one after the other, I need to have Voltage Only triggering Land or RTL if I want it to. "

Martin replied to Randy's discussion Copter-3.3 beta testing
"No, your not alone on that. Sometimes I've used the reset button on the Pixhawk to get around this instead of yanking the USB cable out and back in (IIRC) ..."
