One problem after another!

I received an error in downloading firmware.  Found out that I needed to update misson planner, which I did. Was then able to download firmware.

Now with the updated mission planner I'am unable to communicate with the ardupilot mega. So I tied the older mission planner software, which  before was  always able to communicate with the board.  Now it tells me that I haven't yet downloaded the firmware. What a mess!!  I'am about the throw the ardupilot-mega into the trash. Yes I checked the com port, baun rate, flight pin, power to the controller and receiver. The only thing I can think of is that there is a confict in versions.  My ardupilot-mega is version 1.4

If anyone has a solution it would be welcomed.  Thanks

  • I think it is the board I pressed on one of the board solder joints at the board started to flash, and it made contact for a monment, so I will need to check the solder on a couple of the posts, hopefully that will do the trick.  I'am getting a flashing green light and a solid red light. I will see if the software can make contact.

  • I will look around for another cable. I probably have one.  I noticed that the board does not flash the red and green lights as much as before, although as I'm writing this its is flashing at the current time.  How long does it take a board to boot up. I plugged this board in and nothing happened for a few minutes and then it started to flash red and green. Is this normal. What does it mean when the red and green lights are flashing?

  • When I hit the connect button it tells me that it is trying to connect, but times out with a "no heat beat packlets received"

  • Terminal indicates  v 2.4.1

    Free ram 3455

    PW Version  116

  • I purchase this board maybe 4 months ago,  so it should be the newer version.

  • I'm not sure how to determine board version.  On the red board it says version 1.4.  Does that help?

  • Ok, you are beginning to lose me.  Explain how I determine the firmware version.  I don't know what you mean by MP terminal. Need a little bit more info to understand.

  • What is a boot strap issue? Please explain..

    Baud rate was 115200

I need to check APM 1280 or 2560. I have had the board for sometime and have forgotten. I think is is the 2560 board but I will check.  I have never had a problem accessing the board until I loaded this new firmware with the new updated software.  I originally loaded aircraft firmware and it all worked great, so the board was working.   I recently wanted to load firmware for a tricopter and that is when the problems begin. As I mentioned before when I attempted to access the board on the older mission planner software it told me that there was no firmware on the board. So, is there a way to confirm if the firmware was installed as the software as it didn't indicate any errors of problems when downloading it on to the board.

    Bob,

Are you using an recent APM 2560 board or an older APM 1280 board? Did you solder it together yourself?

  • This sounds like a boot strap issue.
