Hi All,
As a real noob when it comes to piloting, and since I live in Brooklyn where there's a real absence open spaces to fly I was thinking about creating a new flight mode to give me more control over the throttle. My thought is to make the arducopter's throttle work in the same way as does that of the AR.Drone, where instead of controlling vertical velocity it controls absolute altitude. This way, when hovering there's much less risk of accidentally effecting the 'copter's vertical velocity adversely when applying yaw.
If anyone's got any idea on where to start coding this, I'd be excited to give it a shot.

The flight mode you are after is altitude hold.
Just arm in stabilise, switch to altitude hold and centre stick is hover and +/- 1-% will give you a rate of rise or fall.
