RC commands via datalink

Hi everybody!

I just invested in an Ardupilot Mega 2.5 with a datalink set. I was wondering if there was some code allowing the autopilot to receive commands from the datalink?

My plan is to use a conventional transmitter but also to be able to use a joystick input which will send commands through the datalink when flying in FPV. I think it's quite easy to do but if the code already exists that would save me some time!

Thanks

You can connect a joystick to Mission Planner windows software to control the plane over the datalink. If you are using 915Mhz or 433Mhz the data rates are only 64K OTA, so there's quite a bit of lag. More as you get further away. You can improve it by using a data link at a higher frequency, but then range drops.

I think it's best to say its experimental at this stage. You get much better response using RC control.
