Try as I might, I can't find ANY information on 'remote landing'... meaning, I don't want to fly back to home, instead I want to fly to a remote location and land.
Has anyone done this? Is it possible with the software?
Is there any expert we can discuss advanced functions with?

the land command works very well for me.
all you need do is mark a waypoint on map where you want to land then click "add below" in the waypoint list then in the waypoint list on the last command you just added click and change to land . That's it done . Hope this helps

There is some information on the land for the copter. Anyways, the land for me, works fantastic!
You just plan a mission and your last waypoint you right click it and select Land. It will Land at that
location. Just so you know, there will be 2 waypoints at that point. One will probaly be covered over .

As far as I know that function is available if you look in the mission planner and play around with planning missions and adding waypoints. One of the things you can do is add a landing action and the end of your mission. As far as I know and can see this can be done the way that you want. I am also banking on this feature for loads of fun and coolness. I have an airport that I want to land at from when I take off from my home. It is going to be awesome. Good luck on your mission!
